Taliban Prison Break
In what can only be classified as a major fail by the local authorities and a kick in the teeth for all the allied soldiers serving in Afghanistan hundreds of Taliban suspects escaped from the Sarpoza prison in Kandahar. A reads like a bad film script.
General Ghulam Dastgir, the governor in charge of the Kandahar jail, points to the hole which inmates used to escape April 25, 2011. Insurgents tunnelled into the main jail in Afghanistan's volatile Kandahar province on Monday, freeing hundreds of prisoners, including many Taliban commanders, a serious setback for U.S. forces who hope to start withdrawing in coming months.
